On Friday September 20th Campbellsville Fire Rescue received notification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that our 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) application had been approved and would receive funding in the amount of $77,714.28.
With this award the department will replace 12 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The older SCBA’s units the department has is now three NFPA standards behind and in poor repair. The new SCBA will have lightweight face piece, improved visibility with 4 buddy lights, reflective material, enhanced electronic communications, rechargeable battery power unit, improved comfort and most importantly increased reliability.
This is the first time in several years Campbellsville Fire-Rescue has been awarded a federal grant from FEMA. However, since 2011 Campbellsville Fire Rescue has received $362,395.70 in state and local grant funding to benefit residence of Campbellsville and Taylor County.
Campbellsville Fire-Rescue would like to thank 1st District Congressman James Comer for their support of this vital Federal grant program. We would also like to thank the full/part time staff and volunteer firefighters that serve this community daily. This equipment will have a positive impact on their health and safety.
